Sorry Darren. I didnt realise that there were 2 pages of this thread and thought I had posted directly after reading yours and Thomas' posts about potentially using splints
Where did you get yours from? The sports ones from the chemist are not the same.
Mine are from OT at hospital. The have metal inserts which can be taken out, when you go to sleep, so you still get some support, but not as much as with the metal in for daytime use.
Glad that the splints are helping. I can't sleep without mine now, as I always wake up in pain.

An OT can make you a pair of splints to wear at night click for link They will be moulded to your hands in the rest position. I had a pair, but I cant wear anything other than PJ's when sleeping _________________ (\_/)

You really should try the wrist plints. I wear mine everynight to bed. Otherwise, I have major problems with my wrists being to floppy etc
They will probably help more than you realise.

I have now been wearing Carpal tunnel wrist splints on both hands for approximately 2 weeks. Over the 2 weeks i have only had 1 episode of a numb hand, which is great considering that i used to wake up several times a night with numb hands before the splints.
I would definitely recommend wrist splints to anybody with a similar problem. I chose not to consult My Doctor about this problem, this was My choice. _________________

Hey Darren
I've had numb hands at night for as long as I can remember. Happens anytime I am asleep.
I have a tendency to curl my hands forward when I am asleep as my wrists are very loose,
and when I wake up, my hands are nearly flat against them. I saw ortho Drs, and had various
nerve tests which showed mild .. They offered an operation but I declined
for the time being. I wear wrist splints at night (not very attractive or conducive to you sex life)
but they do help... worth a try??
Good luck

Thanks Thomas, I know alot of others on here use wrist splints and was about to consider them as all the symptoms point towards carpal tunnel and who is better to ask than you Guys? _________________

Pixi, i get a numb left thigh sometimes at night, but i think that's connected to the damaged nerves in the base of my spine.
cghanima, i was thinking carpal tunnel syndrome too. When i had the electrical nerve test on my legs he did my hands at the same time. The hands were normal, so i just presumed it was something else. I will go to my GP in the next couple of weeks and see what he thinks. _________________
